Women's Soccer Holds Steady at No. 4 in NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Women's Soccer Holds Steady at No. 4 in NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Soccer program remained at No. 4 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll, which was announced by the national office Wednesday.

CMU leads the pack of Heart schools represented or mentioned in the Top 25 including; No. 20 Missouri Valley College, No. 25 Benedictine, and (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene.

Central has begun the season with a 12-1-1 overall record and a perfect 8-0 mark in the conference action. CMU has picked up Top 25 wins over, at the time, No. 16 John Brown, No. 18 MNU, No. 20 MVC, and (RV) Benedictine College.

With their win over Benedictine this past Saturday, the program has gone undefeated in 60-straight matches when playing at home on Davis Field.

Through 14 games this year, the Eagles have scored on average, 3.43 goals/game in addition to 17.5 shots/game.

Central hits the road and will next face Park University Saturday, Oct. 21 at 12:00 p.m. in Parkville, Mo.

Rating Methodology

  • The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Continental Athletic Conference (Independents), and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
