Lamoni, Iowa - Behind four second half goals, the No. 7 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program earned a 4-0 shut out of Graceland University Saturday night in Lamoni, Iowa.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-1-1 and 4-0 in the Heart of America. Graceland now stands at 2-7-2 and 0-3-1 in conference action.
Central had chances early on in the match, finishing the first half with seven total shots and three coming on frame, but were unable to put any in the back of the net.
CMU's offense came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, as Kirstine Lykke scored just six minutes into the half to put Central up 1-0. Less than five minutes later, Nerea Munoz sent a cross in that found Renee Berak for her first goal of the year and the second goal of the match.
Leading 2-0, Lykke padded CMU's lead with her second goal of the night in the 66th minute with the assist from Mariana Barreto. Barreto gave Central its fourth and final goal of the night less than five minutes later, with Larissa Ozorio providing the assist.
Altogether, Central's offense fired off 22 total shots, with 13 of those coming on goal. CMU's defense held Graceland without a shot for the entirety of the match.
Barreto led the Eagles with five total shots while both Lykke and Lacey Ann Murray recorded four.
Candela Blanco Esteban played 83 minutes in goal for Central, before Leigh Brophy finished the match.
Central concludes their three-game road stretch against William Penn Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 5:00 p.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
