No. 8 Central Secures 2-2 Draw Against No. 24 Campbellsville

Fayette, Mo. - The No. 8 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program secured a 2-2 draw against No. 24 Campbellsville Tuesday night at Davis Field.

The Eagles move to 4-1-1 entering conference play this coming weekend.

Central opened the scoring in the 19th minute of play, as reigning Heart Defensive Player of the Week Alicia Zamora converted her third-straight penalty kick in as many games to give CMU a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers responded early in the second half, scoring back-to-back goals in less than a minute span to take a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute. Central's Kirstine Lykke found the equalizer in the 68th minute off the assist from Emma Doyle to bring Central even.

Neither side was able to find the go ahead score in the final 22 minutes of play, as the game would be settled as a draw.

Campbellsville outshot CMU 13-9, with six of those shots coming on frame for the Tigers. Central tallied just two shots on goal, but both finding the back of the net.

CMU will open conference action against Mount Mercy University Satuday, Sept. 16 at 1:00 p.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
