Kansas City, Mo. - The No. 4 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program shut out Culver-Stockton College, 4-0, Wednesday night at Davis Field.
The Eagles improve to 14-1-1 and a perfect 10-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Culver drops to 9-5-3 and 3-4-3 in the Heart.
With the win, Central claims at least a share of the their fifth-straight Heart Regular Season Championship, the second longest streak in conference history.
Reigning Heart Player of the Week Mariana Barreto picked up right where she left off from the weekend, scoring in just the 12th minute of play off the assist from Paula Castro.
Kirstine Lykke padded Central's lead as Alicia Zamora sent a free kick into the box that found Lykke in the 29th minute.
Central would hold a 2-0 lead at the halftime break.
Barreto tallied her second goal of the night and fifth in the last two games in the 67th minute to put CMU up 3-0, with the assist coming from Celine Witt.
Lykke solidified the win in the 78th minute with her second goal of the match, making the final score 4-0 in favor of Central.
CMU's offense fired off 28 total shots with 10 of them coming on frame, compared to just three shots and two shots on goal for the Wildcats.
Castro led the way for CMU with seven total shots, and an assist. Barreto and Lykke both picked up a brace in the win.
Zamora tallied three total shots, with two shots on goal and an assist.
Reigning Heart Defensive Player of the Week and freshman goalkeeper Candela Blanco Esteban played 84 minutes and picked up two saves in the win. Max De Armas Colombo closed the game out, playing the final six minutes between the posts.
Central will conclude the regular season with a matchup against Clarke University Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Davis Field. The Eagles will honor their 2023 Senior Class prior to the match.
