Women's Soccer Cracks Top 5 in National Rankings

Women's Soccer Cracks Top 5 in National Rankings

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Soccer program cracked the Top 5 in this week's NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 poll. The poll, which was announced by the national office Wednesday morning, sees the Eagles jump two spots to No. 4.

It marks their second-highest ranking in program history. They were previously ranked No. 3 in the 2021 postseason poll. Central has now been ranked in 45 consecutive polls dating back to August of 2019, marking the 10th longest active streak in the country.

The Eagles are the highest ranked program in the Heart of America, followed by No. 20 Missouri Valley College, No. 25 MidAmerica Nazarene, and (RV) Benedictine College.

Central currently boasts a 10-1-1 overall record including an unblemished 6-0 record in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Their only loss of the year came in the season opener against, at the time, No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.) in Williamsburg.

CMU has scored a total of 42 goals in 12 matches, good enough for an average of 3.50 goals/contest.

The Eagles are set to host rival Missouri Valley College Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field. The winner of the match will claim sole possession in the Hear regular season standings.

Rating Methodology

  • The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Continental Athletic Conference (Independents), and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
