Eagles Jump One Spot to No. 6 in Latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Eagles Jump One Spot to No. 6 in Latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Soccer program jumped one spot to No. 6 in the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 poll, which was announced by the national office Tuesday.

Other Heart programs featured or mentioned in the Top 25 include No. 23 Missouri Valley, No. 25 MidAmerica Nazarene, and (RV) Benedictine College.

The Eagles currently boast a 9-1-1 record, including a perfect 5-0 mark in the Heart of America. Central has averaged nearly 3.5 goals/contest while allowing less than one goal/game. Kirstine Lykke leads CMU with nine goals in nine matches played, including four game winners.

Central returns home after a three-game road trip to host Grand View University Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Davis Field.

Rating Methodology

  • The rating was rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Continental Athletic Conference (Independents), and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
