Seven Eagles Earn Heart All-Conference Selections; Henson Named Player and Attacker of the Year

Seven Eagles Earn Heart All-Conference Selections; Henson Named Player and Attacker of the Year

Kansas City, Mo. - For the sixth consecutive season, seven members of the Central Methodist Volleyball program were recognized as Heart All-Conference selections by the conference office this week.

Senior opposite hitter Callie Henson was named both the Heart Attacker and Player of the Year, while Krystal Brauner took home Defender of the Year Honors. Both Henson and Brauner were named to the Heart All-Conference First Team, as were Annabelle Maassen and Delaney Miller

Sydney Healy landed on the second team, while Joana Milho earned third team honors. Newcomer Morgan LeBlanc rounded out the all-conference selections with an Honorable Mention nod.

Henson earned Heart Player and Attacker of the Year honors after leading the team in kills (303) and kills/set (3.09). Her kills/set average was good for fourth best in the conference while her hitting percentage (.321) was third best in the Heart. The native of Jefferson City, Mo. appeared in 31 matches and 98 total sets, racking up double-digit kills on 19 different occasions. She was named the Heart Attacker of the Week back on Oct. 31.

Henson holds the program record for career kills, which she set against Columbia College on Oct. 31. She is now a four-time Heart First Team All-Conference selection, the Heart Player of the Year, and back-to-back Heart Attacker of the Year.

Brauner was named the Defender of the Year after racking up a team leading 542 total digs and a conference best 5.02 digs/set through 32 matches. The Jefferson City, Mo. native also recorded 19 service aces and tallied a season's best 41 digs against Loyola on Sept. 2. She earned Heart Defender of the Week honors both on Sept. 4 and Sept. 25. Brauner registered double-digit digs in 29 of the 32 matches she played in

In addition to Defender of the Year honors, Brauner also landed on the Heart All-Conference First Team for the fifth-consecutive season.

Maassen earned first team honors for the first time in her career after landing on the second team her first three seasons. Maassen has played in every match so far this season, leading the team in sets played (110), service aces (36), and total blocks (106). The six rotation middle finished second in the Heart in total blocks and fifth in blocks/set (0.96).

Miller joined Maassen as a First Team All-Heart selection. The native of Buffalo, Missouri appeared in all 32 matches, serving as Central's most effective hitter with a .381 attack percentage, which was also best in the Heart of America. Miller tallied double-digit kills on nine different occasions. She was also named the Heart Attacker of the Week on Aug. 28.

After earning Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore in 2021, Sydney Healy was named to the second team in her final season as an Eagle. Through 32 matches, Healy tallied 186 kills and 61 total blocks. She recorded double-digit kills in six matches including a season's best 13 against Loyola on Sept. 2.

Milho is now a two-time Third Team All-Conference selection, as she also earned the honors as a freshman in 2022. Milho recorded 181 total kills, averaging 1.79 kills/set in 32 matches played.

LeBlanc earned Honorable Mention honors during her first season with Central, appearing in 32 matches and 97 sets. She finished the year with 159 total kills and 109 digs.

CMU will turn their attention to the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament, hosting Valley City State (N.D.) Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11:00 a.m. inside Puckett Field House. The winner will head to the Final Site in Sioux City, Iowa later this month.
