Fayette, Mo. - The No. 20 Central Methodist Volleyball program saw its five game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night, as the Eagles fell to No. 8 Park University in four sets (23-25, 22-25, 25-13, and 19-25).
Central now stands at 11-6 overall and 5-2 in Heart of America action. Park improves to 12-2 and 6-0 in conference play.
After dropping the first two sets by narrow margins, the Eagles came out firing on all cylinders in set three. Central dominated the set, hitting .350 compared to a negative hitting percentage for the Pirates. CMU claimed a 25-13 win in set three, holding Park to their second lowest scoring set of 2023.
Park responded in the fourth with a 25-19 victory to earn a 3-1 match victory, keeping their conference record perfect.
Callie Henson finished the night with 11 kills, four blocks, one dig and an assist. Morgan LeBlanc tallied nine kills in addition to six digs, while Sydney Healy added eight kills and four blocks.
Sophomore Joana Milho recorded seven kills, three digs, and a block. Annabelle Maassen finished the match with six kills, two service aces, 10 digs, and four blocks. Maassen's fourth dig of the evening put her at 1,000 for her career.
Gabi Owczarek led the setters with 20 assists in addition to eight digs, nearly tallying a double-double. Ryleigh McBurney dished out 17 assists, while Krystal Brauner led the defense with 23 digs to go along with four assists.
The Eagles remain at home and will host the defending Heart Regular Season and Tournament Champion MidAmerica Nazarene University Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
