Peru, Neb. - No. 19 CMU Volleyball began its weekend road trip with a three-set sweep of Heart North Division opponent Peru State by scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-19.
CMU improves to 15-6 and 9-2 in the Heart action, while the Bobcats fall to 7-16 and 2-8 in conference play. Additionally, tonight's win marks the Eagles' fourth-straight victory, and their ninth sweep in the last 10 games.
Senior middle blocker Annabelle Maassen led Central's attackers with eight kills on 18 swings for a .389 hitting percentage. The native of Jefferson City, Mo. also tallied 12 digs, three assists, and two blocks.
Playing in just two sets, fellow senior Callie Henson matched Maassen with eight kills in addition to two digs, a block, and an assist. Delaney Miller was the most efficient hitter for the Eagles, hitting a cool .700 with seven kills on 10 swings with no attack errors.
Joana Milho finished the night with six kills, while the duo of Alyssa Smith and Morgan LeBlanc each added five.
Junior setter Gabi Owczarek dished out a team-high 17 assists, followed closely by Ryleigh McBurney with 15. Freshman Drew Gayle added five assists.
Krystal Brauner recorded a match-high 18 digs, while Smith added eight and Owczarek six.
As a team, CMU hit .333 for the night while holding Peru State to a negative hitting percentage. The Bobcats committed 22 total attack errors and had a positive hitting percentage in just one of three sets.
Central concludes its weekend road trip with a matchup against Graceland University Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1:00 p.m. in Lamoni, Iowa.
