Fayette, Mo. - The No. 21 Central Methodist Volleyball program secured a three-set sweep over Heart South Division foe Baker University by scores of 25-9, 25-12, and 25-14 on Halloween night inside Puckett Field House.
With the win, Central closes the regular season with a 20-9 overall record and a final conference record of 14-3. The Wildcats see their season come to an end with a 9-18 record and a 4-13 mark in Heart play.
Prior to the match, the program honored its 2023-24 senior class which included; Sydney Healy, Annabelle Maassen, Delaney Miller, Alyssa Smith, Krystal Brauner, Ryleigh McBurney, Addison Butler, Callie Henson, Jessica Mowry, and Danika White.
The Eagles made quick work of Baker in set one, hitting .393 on 12 kills with just on attack error. The Wildcats on the other hand, struggled to put together a consistent offense, hitting just .030.
Central continued to cruise in set two, hitting .364 with a match-high 14 kills. The Eagles closed the match out hitting .263 in the final set, whie Baker finished the frame with a negative hitting percentage.
CMU got even contributions from up and down its lineup. Both Maassen and Henson led the attackers with six kills apiece while Miller added five and Joana Milho four.
Miller was the most efficient attacker for the Eagles, hitting .625 on eight swings. The senior from Buffalo, Missouri also added a match-high four blocks in the victory.
Two of Central's setters reached double-digit assists, led by McBurney with 14 and Gabi Owczarek 10.
Brauner led the defense with 14 digs while Maassen chipped in eight. Maassen and Gimena Dezeo also recorded three blocks apiece.
Central enters postseason play as the No. 2 seeded in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament. The Eagles will host No. 7 seed William Penn Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11:00 a.m. in the tournament quarterfinals.
