Volleyball Jumps to No. 19 in Latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Volleyball program jumped three spots to No. 19 in the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 poll, announced by the national office Wednesday morning.

No. 8 Park and (RV) Benedictine College are the other two Heart programs represented in the Top 25 poll. The Eagles have now been ranked in 40 straight Top 25 polls, dating back to September of 2018. It is the currently the fifth longest streak in the NAIA.

Through its first 20 games, Central has tallied a 14-6 record including an 8-2 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Confernece. CMU's only two losses in Heart play have come against Park and Benedictine.

The Eagles have remained hot over the last month of play, winning 10 of 12 matches, with all 10 victories being sweeps. Led by their offense, the Eagles are currently No. 7 in the country in attacking percentage at .263.

Central will next take on Peru State College Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:00 p.m. in Peru, Neb.

Rating Methodology

  • The rating was rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated groups.
  • The Coaches Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered "receiving votes"
