Four Eagles Earn Heart All-Conference Honors

Kansas City, Mo. - Four members of the Central Methodist Men's Soccer program were named to Heart All-Conference teams, which were announced by the conference office Thursday.

Basil Erne earned first team honors while Koen Schimmel landed on the second team. Both Isaac Johnson and Matheus Storck were named to the third team.

Erne is now a three-time Heart First Team All-Conference selection for the Eagles. The junior from Uetikon am See, Switzerland appeared in 16 games with 15 starts on Central's defensive backline.

Erne anchored the defense to five shut outs, while dishing out three assists during the regular season campaign.

Schimmel earned second team honors after appearing and starting in all 17 games for CMU. He finished second on the team with seven goals while also tying for the team lead with five assists.

Schimmel totaled a team best 19 total points while also scoring the game winner against William Woods in the season opener. He also picked up a brace against Clarke on Senior Day last Friday.

Johnson earned third team honors after making 16 starts through 17 matches. The native of Columbia, Mo. captained Central's squad in 2023 and provided a balance scoring attack as well as setting up teammates for goal scoring opportunities. He finished the regular season with four goals and tied for the team lead with five asists.

Johnson also scored game winners against Southwestern Christian (9/4), John Brown (9/9), and Clarke (10/27).

Storck rounds out the all-conference honors for CMU with a third-team selection, the first of his career. After appearing in just two games as a junior, Storck appeared in 16 games with 15 starts at midfield in 2023.

The native of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil finished the regular season with six goals and four assists. In addition, he scored two game winners against Grand View (10/8) and Culver-Stockton (10/24).

Central has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Heart Conference Tournament, and will travel to No. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene for the quarterfinals Friday, Nov. 3 at 1:00 p.m. in Olathe, Kan.
