No. 12 Eagles Fall to Rockhurst on Last Minute Goal

No. 12 Eagles Fall to Rockhurst on Last Minute Goal

Kansas City, Mo. - The No. 12 Central Methodist Men's Soccer program dropped a tough road contest to NCAA Division II Rockhurst University, 2-1, Thursday night in Kansas City, Mo.

Central moves to 1-1 on the early season.

The Eagles found themselves trailing 1-0 just 20 minutes into the first half. Central would respond in the 68th minute of play on a goal from Koen Schimmel. Schimmel fired a shot which found the bottom left corner of the net, with the assist coming from Matheus Storck

Central and Rockhurst remained even until the last two and a half minutes of the match. The Hawks scored the game winner on a tap-in cross at the goal line.

The Eagles outshot Rockhurst, 11-9, with seven of those shots coming on frame. Cian Halpin led CMU's offense with three shots taken, followed by Schimmel and Storck with two each.

Morris Van Tuinen played a full 90 minutes between the posts for Central, making four saves in the close loss.

Central will remain on the road for a Labor Day matchup against Southwestern Christian Monday, Sept. 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany, Okla.
