Eagles Route Clarke on Senior Night; Secure Postseason Berth

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer program routed Clarke University by a score of 6-0 Friday night at Davis Field on Senior Night.

Prior to the match, Central honored its 2023-24 Senior Class which included both Isaac Johnson and Alvaro Perojo

With the win, the Eagles finish the regular season at 8-6-3 and 5-4-2 in the Heart. Clarke sees its season come to an end with a final record of 7-5-4 and a 4-5-2 in conference play.

The first 40 minutes of the match were scoreless before Johnson found the back of the net on a set piece in the 41st minute to put Central up 1-0. CMU would hold a 1-0 lead over the Pride at the halftime break.

In the 49th minute, Matheus Storck threaded a pass to Koen Schimmel who ran past his defender and flicked the ball into the far post for the second goal of the match.

Central's third goal came off a corner kick in the 56th minute. After an initial deflection, Perojo got enough of a touch on the ball to cross the goal line for the score.

Leading 3-0, Schimmel recorded his second goal of the match in the 62nd minute, followed by a goal from Adrian Stokke on a set piece in the 84th minute from Cesar Cuellar

The sixth and final goal of the match came from Perojo, who scored with the assist coming from Sofiane Jaouzi

CMU finished the match firing off 22 total shots, with 11 of them coming on frame. Perojo recorded five shots including a brace in his final home game at Davis Field.

Schimmel tallied four shots and matched Perojo with a brace. Stokke and Liam Arthur both recorded three shots while Storck, Cuellar, and Jaouzi each picked up an assist.

Niccolo Cabras finished the match with a clean sheet, picking up five saves in a full 90 minutes between the posts.
