Marshall, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Wrestling team took part in the highly touted Missouri Valley College Invitational this weekend in Marshall, Mo. 

The two-day event featured nearly 400 wrestlers from 45 different programs. It is one of the largest collegiate wrestling events in the country. 

Junior grappler James Griffin was the highest finisher for Central, placing fifth in the 157 pound weight class. 

Griffin finished the tournament with a 5-2 record, securing ranked wins over the following opponents; No. 24 Noah Styskal (Morningside), No. 21 Thade Radosa (Cornerstone), and No. 23 Josey Jernegan (Saint Mary). 

After dropping his first match of the invite, Trey Duhon rattled off three consecutive victories in the 184 pound weight class, all coming via pin. He would ultimately fall to Chase Stieb of Doane in the consolation bracket to finish his tournament run. 

Cameron Cornman also earned three victories at 197 pounds, including a win over No. 25 John Schuttler of Graceland by a 12-2 Major Decision. 

As a team, the Eagles finished 16th out of the 45 programs represented, scoring 54.5 team points. 

Central will next travel to Baldwin City, Kansas to face Heart foe Baker University, Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7:00 p.m.
