Marshall, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Wrestling team made a quick turnaround trip back to Marshall to compete in the Missouri Valley College Open Saturday morning.
Central competed against programs from both the NAIA, and the NCAA Division I and II levels.
Cameron Cornman had the best day for CMU, as the junior 197 pounder placed second in his weight class with a 4-1 record. Cornman secured two of his four wins by Fall in addition to a Major Decision victory in the semifinals. His only loss came to Jesse Cassatt of the University of Missouri in the championship match.
James Griffin finished the day with a 4-2 record in the 157 pound weight class. After falling in his opening bout, the St. Louis, Missouri native rattled off four consecutive wins, including two victories via Technical Fall. He would ultimately close out his tournament run with a loss to Kieran Daugherty of Grand View due to a medical forfeit.
Central returns home to host Benedictine College Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House. The Eagles will honor their 2023-24 senior class as part of senior night festivities.
