Fayette, Mo. - The (RV) Central Methodist Men's Wrestling program began the 2023-24 season with a 31-12 victory over Saint Ambrose Monday night inside Puckett Field House.
The Eagles' lineup, which featured three nationally ranked wrestlers, finished the night with seven individual victories, which included three by Fall and a Major Decision.
No. 6 nationally ranked Colton King started the dual off with a pin over Steele Dias in the closing minutes of the third to pick up six points for the Eagles at 125 pounds.
Konnor Wright took care of his opponent by an 11-0 Major Decision, before the Fighting Bees rattled of back-to-back victories in the 141 and 149-pound weight classes.
No. 2 nationally ranked James Griffin and Roman Garcia picked up victories at the 157 and 165-pound weight class to extend Central's dual lead.
After a Saint Ambrose victory at 174-pounds the Eagles' Hayden Burks knocked off No. 19 nationally ranked Dylan Meiners by a 6-2 Decision.
Cameron Cornman and Garine Gibson closed the dual out with victories by Fall and Sudden Victory respectively, giving CMU the 31-12 win.
Central will hit the road for their first tournament of the year at the Falcon Invite hosted by Friends University Saturday, Nov. 4 at 8:30 a.m. in Park City, Kan.
