Fayette, Mo. - The (RV) Central Methodist Men's Soccer team returned to winning form with a 2-0 shutout of previously undefeated Graceland University Tuesday night at Davis Field.
After a physical start from both sides, the Eagles began to settle in. Near the 10-minute mark, the Yellowjackets allowed Central Methodist to play out from the back and gain more possession in the midfield.
Both teams had chances to score, but it was the Eagles who broke through. Matheus Storck netted his fifth goal of the season with a strike from just inside the 18-yard box, beating Graceland's goalkeeper Beltran.
With momentum on their side, the Eagles extended their lead when Leonardo Chiulli came off the bench to score his second goal of the season.
In the second half, the Yellowjackets came out more aggressive, dictating the tempo and outshooting the Eagles 6-1. However, they were unable to score, largely due to several outstanding saves by Central Methodist goalkeeper Niccolo Cabras, who finished the night with four saves.
After 90 minutes of intense play, the Eagles secured their second conference win of the season.
Central continues conference action with a road match against Baker University Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kan.
