Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team fell to first-place MidAmerica Nazarene University, 94-89, Wednesday night inside Puckett Field House.
Central now stands at 19-8 and 15-8 in the Heart of America, while the Pioneers improve to 23-4 and 21-2 in conference play.
The Eagles' offense was cruising in the first half, as Central held a 47-36 lead at the halftime break. CMU continued their efficient shooting effort into the second, extending their lead to as many as 18 points following a made three from TreVon Smith.
However, over a seven minute stretch the Pioneers found their offense. MNU outscored Central 22-6 to take their first lead, 70-68, with under 10 minutes to play.
The Eagles rallied to tie the game at 80-80 with 5:37 left, before MNU rattled off five-straight points to pull ahead 85-80. Central remained within striking distance but were unable to pull ahead, as the MidAmerica went on to earn a five point victory.
All five of Central's starters landed in double figures, led by Everett Stubblefield who scored 22 points on nine-of-16 shooting from the floor. He also tallied four steals, three assists, two rebounds and a block.
Trey Sinegal followed with 21 points and eight rebounds. Smith finished the evening with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Peter Turay collected another double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Isaiah May rounded out the double-digit scorers for CMU with 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Central outrebounded the Pioneers 41-36 and converted 10 three-point baskets.
CMU will head out on the road for its final regular season game of the year against Mount Mercy. The Eagles will face the Mustangs Saturday, Feb. 24 at 4:00 p.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
