Central Falls Short in Road Contest at Park

Central Falls Short in Road Contest at Park

Parkville, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team fell to Park University 78-67 Saturday afternoon in Parkville, Mo.

The Eagles fall to 19-7 and 15-7 in the Heart, while Park improves to 11-15 and 9-13 in the conference.

In the first 10 minutes of play, the Eagles' strong offensive push resulted in an 11-point lead. However, Park soon began to chip away at the lead, and Central held just a 36-34 advantage at halftime.

The Eagles held their lead for the first six and a half minutes of the second half. Both teams continued to trade baskets until the final 10 minutes of the game when Park took control. The Pirates ended up outscoring Central, 44-31, in the final 20 minutes of play.

CMU shot 34.4 percent from the floor and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc. Park countered, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 23.1 percent from three. Both teams shot well from the charity stripe, as Central knocked down 79.2 percent of its attempts compared to 75 percent for the Pirates.

Park outrebounded Central on the glass, 40-36. The Pirates dished out 17 assists on 30 of their made baskets.

Three Eagles landed in double figures with Trey Sinegal leading the way with 18 points. Sinegal was followed by TreVon Smith with 17 and Trent Lyles with 16.

Isaiah May led the rebounding effort with 13 boards.

Central returns home to host the MidAmerica Nazarene to round out the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.

The Eagles won the first game between the two sides, 90-86, back on December 6 in Olathe.
