Peru, Neb. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team took a tough road loss to Peru State College Saturday aftenoon in Peru, Nebraska.
Central fell to the Bobcats by a final score of 81-67. The Eagles now stand at 17-5 and 13-5 in conference action, while Peru State improves to 13-10 and 9-10 in the Heart of America.
Peru led the game from start to finish, leading by six points at the halftime break. However, Central trimmed the deficit to 45-42 on a made three-point basket from Isaiah May at the 15:40 mark of the second half.
From that point on, PSC outscored Central 36-25 the rest of the way to secure a 14-point upset victory.
TreVon Smith led the CMU offense with 22 points, his ninth-point 20 plus scoring performance this year. Trey Sinegal followed with 18 points while adding seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Isaiah Williams was the final Eagle to land in double figures with 10 points in 17 minutes off the bench. Everett Stubblefield tallied eight points, four rebounds, and three assists.
The Bobcats held a slight advantage on the glass, outrebounding Central 31-30.
Central will look to bounce back when they host William Penn University Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. during the annual Blow Pop game.
