Big first half leads Central past Park, 77-56

Parkville, Mo. - The (RV) Central Methodist men's basketball program bounced back with a 77-56 victory over Park University Saturday afternoon in Parkville, Mo. 

Central improves its record to 9-1 and 1-1 in the Heart, while the Pirates fall to 6-2 and 1-1 in conference play. 

The Eagles jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening five minutes of the first half, and would lead by as many as 19 points en route to a double-digit lead at the break. 

Despite only outscoring the Pirates 32-30 in the second half, CMU would go on the earn a 21-point victory. 

Jonathan Brown once again led the offense with his sixth 20-point performance of the season. The native of London, England tallied 24 points and shot 81.8-percent from the field which included five three-point baskets. 

Tim Cameron followed with 15 points in addition to recording six assists, four steals and two rebounds. Isaiah May and Thomas Sowoolu were the final two Eagles to reach double-figures with 12 and 11 points respectively. 

Overall Central shot 53.7-percent from the floor and an impressive 60-percent (nine-of-15) shooting from beyond the arc. The defense was stout all game, as they held Park to just 37.5-percent shooting from the floor and only one three-point basket. Central also forced 17 turnovers on 12 steals. 

The Pirates just edged Central on the glass, grabbing 34 rebounds compared to 32 for the Eagles. Fode Camara led CMU on the boards with 11 rebounds, his fourth double-digit rebounding performance of the year and his second-straight. 

Central returns to Puckett Field House to host No. 3 nationally ranked William Penn Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
