Eagles Conclude Season at NAIA National Championships

Jamestown, N.D. - The Central Methodist Women's Wrestling team sent three Eagles to the second-ever NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship this weekend in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Among those competing for the Eagles were Allison Hynes (123 pounds), Nonnie Justice (130 pounds), Lillian Gough (136 pounds).

Justice finished nationals with an 0-2 record in the 130 pound bracket, while Gough posted a 2-2 record.

Gough secured a tournament opening victory over Mattison Park of Texas Wesleyan by a 10-2 victory to advance in the 136 pound bracket.

She would then fall to Addison Messerly (Campbellsville) in a tough 8-4 decision in the Round of 16. In the consolation rounds, Gough bounced back with an 8-3 win over Piper Hall of Vanguard to stay alive. However, she would close her tournament run with a 10-0 loss to Samantha Barragan (Menlo.)

After a tough loss in her first match of the tournament, Hynes rattled off two-straight wins against Josie Davis (Campbellsville) and Carolina Rios of Texas Wesleyan in the 123 pound bracket.

Her bid for All-America status would come up just short, as she would fall to Alana Vivas (Menlo.) by Tech Fall.

As a team, the Eagles finished the tournament in 28th place, scoring four team points.
