Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Wrestling team opened the 2023 dual season with a 27-18 loss to No. 3 Grand View Thursday night inside Puckett Field House.
Following a pair of defeats early via an open weight class and a pin, the Eagles scored their first points in the 116 pound weight class. Victoria Nunez pinned her opponent just a little more than 90 seconds into the first period.
The Vikings won the next two duals at 123 and 130 pounds, before Emily Neumann won her bout at 136 for the Eagles via a 12-4 decision. No. 2 nationally ranked Skye Realin made quick work of her opponent at 143, winning by Technical Fall just 90 seconds into the first period.
CMU fell in the next two weight classes, before junior Shianne Whited won her match at 191 via pin 30 seconds into the second period to conclude the dual.
Central will next compete against Missouri Baptist University Saturday, Dec. 9 at 5:00 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
