CMU Opens 2024 at Missouri Baptist Open

St. Louis, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Wrestling team competed in their first tournament of 2024, taking part in the Missouri Baptist Open Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.

The tournament featured a number of schools from the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA levels.

Out of the 11 Eagles competing Saturday, three placed in their respective weight classes including a fourth place finish for Lillian Gough.

Gough finished the tournament with a 3-2 overall record in the 136 pound weight class, with all three wins coming via pin for the junior. Allison Hynes and Nonnie Justice each posted a fifth place standing in the 123 and 130 pound brackets respectively.

Justice secured four wins in six matches, including three-straight wins to stay advance in the consolation bracket and secure fifth place. After falling in the quarterfinals, Hynes battled back in the consolation bracket, winning three of her next four matches to close the tournament.

The Eagles will next compete against Baker University Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7:00 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kan.
