
Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist women's basketball team welcomed Benedictine College for a mid-week conference showdown Wednesday night inside Puckett Field House.
Central fell to the Ravens by the final score of 98-64. With the loss, CMU now stands at 4-3 and 1-2 in the Heart of America. Benedictine improves to 4-0 and 2-0 in conference action.
In the opening quarter, the Eagles were off to a quick start offensively, taking a 15-9 lead with less than five minutes to play. However, Benedictine's offense could not be contained, as they outscored CMU 19-3 to take a 10 point lead into the second.
The Ravens stretched their lead to 52-33 at the halftime break.
Despite a solid run by the Eagles in the third quarter, led by freshman guard Nautica Washington, who finished her night with 17 points, BC managed some key defensive stops to keep the score difference at double digits.
BC cruised in the fourth quarter to take a key road victory in early conference play over Central.
Both Tristan Porter and Kaelyn Johnson nearly joined Washington in double-digit scoring with nine points apiece, followed by Sa'Mya Stevens with eight.
The main stat line in the game was rebounding, as Benedictine controlled the glass from start to finish with 51 rebounds compared to 16 for the Eagles.
Benedictine also shot nearly 60 percent from the floor which included 15 three-point baskets. Central had a solid night shooting from beyond the arc, knocking down 12 three-point shots.
The Eagles will look to bounce back Saturday, Nov. 23, as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Grand View at 2:00 pm.
