Eagles Knockoff Pirates in Parkville

Parkville, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Basketball team overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Park University by a score of 76-69 Saturday afternoon in Parkville, Mo.

The Eagles improve to 13-13 and 10-12 in the conference, while Park falls to 11-15 and 8-14 in Heart of America play.

Central found themselves trailing 41-35 at the halftime break and continued to trail heading into the fourth quarter. CMU found their shooting rhythm in the fourth, outscoring the Pirates 24-14 in the final frame to come away with a six-point victory.

The Eagles shot nearly 64 percent from the field and 75 percent from the charity stripe in the fourth, while holding Park to 41.7 percent.

Senior forward B'Aunce Carter led the team with 23 points while also recording six rebounds, a steal, and a block. Zutorya Cook stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

Sharay Trotter nearly cracked double figures with nine points while Miaya Ware added seven.

Central just edged Park on the glass 32-31 and dished out 20 assists on 30 made baskets.

The Eagles return home to host MidAmerica Nazarene University for their final regular season home game of the year. The Eagles won the first matchup between the two sides, 71-69, back on December 6 in Olathe.
