Eagles Claim Third Straight Victory with Win Over Bobcats

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Basketball program notched its third-straight win with an 85-67 victory over Peru State College Saturday afternoon inside Puckett Field House.

Central improves to 5-3 and 3-2 in the Heart of America, while Peru State falls to 4-5 and 1-4 in conference action.

The Eagles outscored Peru State by double digits in each of the first two quarters, taking a 54-26 into the locker room at the halftime break.

Central dropped 20 points in the third quarter before Peru State outscored Central 25-11 in the final frame. However, CMU's big first half was enough to push the Eagles to an 18-point victory.

Four of CMU's five starters landed in double figures, led by Zutorya Cook who tallied 18 points on eight-of-15 shooting from the floor. The junior guard also added six rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

Sharay Trotter followed with 16 points, six rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Senior forward B'Aunce Carter tallied 14 points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.

Tynesha Parnell rounded out the double-digit scorers for CMU with 13 points on five-of-nine shooting which included three three-point baskets.

Jodie Bass nearly cracked double figures with nine points. She also recorded three steals, two assists, and two blocks in 19 minutes off the bench.

Freshman Sa'Mya Stevens chipped in eight points in 17 minutes of play while battling foul trouble.

As a team, the Eagles shot extremely well from the field, converting on 52.3-percent of their attempts. Central went 13-of-17 from the charity stripe and outrebounded the Bobcats 40-33.

CMU hits the road to face MidAmerica Nazarene Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Olathe, Kan.
