
Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer trio of Niccolo Cabras, Guilherme Pereira, and Martin O'Toole were named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team in the NAIA Division.
It marks the first time any of the three players have earned Academic All-District honors.
The awards' purpose is to recognize the nations' top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-America program is nominated and voted on by members of the CSC, which are the Sports Information Directors/Athletic Communication leaders from every NAIA institution.
Each school's nominees must have met the following criteria to be eligible for the award: at least sophomore standing both athletically and academically; have maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA; and be a starter or important reserve. For men's soccer, a maximum of six student-athletes may be submitted for consideration from each team.
Cabras, a sophomore from Baunei, Italy, played and started in all 18 of Central's games in 2024. He finished the year with a 9-6-3 record in between the posts and gave up less than one goal/game. For his play, Cabras earned Heart of America Second Team All-Conference honors. Off the field, Cabras is majoring in Sports Management.
Pereira played in every game for the Eagles with 17 starts. The senior from Valinhos, Brazil notched a team-leading seven goals and tied for the team lead with four assists in his final season. He was named a Heart Third Team All-Conference selection. In the classroom, Pereira is a Business major.
O'Toole, a junior from Chicago, Illinois, appeared in all 18 games with 14 starts for Central, primarily as a defender. He scored two goals and dished out three assists for the Eagles. O'Toole is currently pursuing a degree in Biology from Central Methodist.
