
Des Moines, Iowa - The No. 3 Central Methodist Men's Soccer team earned a 2-1 road victory over Grand View University Saturday night in Des Moines, Iowa.
With the victory, Central improves to 7-0-3 and 4-0-2 in the conference, while the Vikings fall to 3-4-3 and 2-2-1 in Heart play.
The Vikings jumped out in front quickly, scoring in just the third minute of play to take a 1-0 lead over Central. CMU settled down and evened the match with an unassisted goal from Stefano Campisi in the 31st minute.
Central and Grand View would enter the halftime break deadlocked at 1-1.
Liam Arthur gave Central the go-ahead score in the 52nd minute of play off the assist from Jayton Johnson, securing a 2-1 victory for CMU.
Campisi led the Eagles' offense with three total shots, all coming on goal. Tom Irion, Guilherme Pereira, Johnson, and Arthur all tallied two shots apiece.
Central finished the match with 12 shots including eight shots on goal, compared to seven shots and four on goal for Grand View.
The Eagles will next face Park University Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. as part of Homecoming weekened.
