Barreto's Hat Trick Lifts No. 7 CMU Past Park

Barreto's Hat Trick Lifts No. 7 CMU Past Park

Fayette, Mo. - The No. 7 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program cruised to a 6-1 victory over Park University Wednesday night at Davis Field.

Central improves to 9-1-1 and 4-1 in the Heart of America, while Park falls to 3-6-1 and 1-4 in conference action.

CMU's offense was almost instant from the opening whistle, as sophomore Mariana Barreto netted three goals in an 11 minute span in the first half.

Sara Garcia and Emma Doyle also got in on the scoring, tallying a goal each in the 34th and 42nd minute. Central would enter the halftime break with a commanding 5-0 lead.

Minori Saze stretched the Eagles' lead to six with a goal in the 52nd minute. Park eventually found the back of the net, scoring in the closing minutes of the match and making the final score 6-1 in favor of the Eagles.

As a team, Central finished the match with 13 shots including seven on frame. Park recorded nine total shots and five coming on goal.

Madison Priebe earned her eighth win of the year in between the posts, picking up one save. Candela Blanco played the final 36:25, making a pair of saves against three shots.

The Eagles remain at home and will host Mount Mercy on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field.
