Baldwin City, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's Track and Field program made history this past weekend at the Heart of America Outdoor Conference Championships in Baldwin City, Kan.
Central won the program's first-ever Heart of America Outdoor Track and Field Conference Championship, tallying 154.40 total points. The Eagles finished in front of William Penn (117 points), and Benedictine College (110.50).
It marks the first-team conference championship for the men since 2011, when they won the indoor championship.
Junior Chris Adekoya placed second in the 100m dash in a time of 10.50 seconds. Caleb Cody-Jackson earned a silver medial in the 400m dash in 48.60 seconds, a new personal best. Senior Doriye Jackson finished second in the 800m run in 1:54.40. Quest Weller secured a fouth place standing in the 800, running the mid-distance race in 1:56.41.
Leroy Williams was crowned conference champion in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.25 seconds. Both Adrian Watson and Hunter Mont Cary went 1-2 in the 400m hurdles with times of 54.48 and 55.04 seconds respectively. Watson also hit a new PR and the NAIA National Qualifying 'B' standard with his time.
The 4x100m relay team of Adam Trachsel, Adekoya, Cody-Jackson, and Williams won the race in 41.22 seconds. Central also got points from its 4x400m relay team, who placed second in 3:19.53. That team was comprised of Watson, Jack Schiffhauer, Jackson, and Williams.
Newcomer Viktar Kachalouski earned a third place standing in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.02 meters. Jaxon Hiser won the pole vault with a vault of 4.40 meters. Ethan Smith also cleared a height of 4.40 meters to finish third.
In the throws, Brayton Stephenson earned a silver medal in the shot put, finishing with a toss of 15.88 meters. Colder Evans placed fourth in the same event with a toss of 15.01 meters.
Additionally, Evans won the discus with a throw of 50.15 meters, more than two meters better than second place.
Central will turn its attention to the NAIA Outdoor National Championships, set to take place May 22-24 in Marion, Ind.
