Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar showing at the CMU Invite this past weekend, Central Methodist junior sprinter Chris Adekoya was named the Heart of America Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday.
Adekoya made headlines in his outdoor debut in the 100m dash, as the junior ran the race in 10.32 seconds to break the school record. It also marked the fastest time in the NAIA this season. Additionally, he ran the 200m dash in a time of 21.41 seconds to finish second.
Finally, Adekoya was part of the 4x100m relay team that clocked a time of 40.65 seconds. The time was good enough to hit the 'A' standard for national qualification while also breaking the school record.
Adekoya and the Eagles will next compete in the Lincoln Open on Saturday, April 6 in Jefferson City, Mo.
