Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Indoor Track & Field program swept the Heart weekly awards Monday afteroon.
All four awards went to the Eagles, as Dayana Montenegro was named the Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while teammate Renee Finke earned Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors.
For the CMU men, Chris Adekoya earned the Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor and teammate Jaxon Hiser was selected as the Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Montenegro and the Eagles competed at the Redhawks Invite on Saturday. The junior posted a third place finish in the 55m dash with a time of 7.34 seconds. She also took home fifth in the women's 200m in a time of 27.10.
Finke competed in three total events, with the junior winning the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters. The mark hit the 'A' standard for qualification into the 2024 NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championships. It marks the second time Finke has hit the 'A' standard in the high jump this season.
In addition, she finished 13th in the shot put with a toss of 10.48 meters and ran the 55m hurdles in a time of 8.80 seconds to place sixth.
Adekoya broke the school record in the men's 55m dash with a time of 6.30 seconds to win the event. The previous school mark had stood for 11 years.
Hiser competed in the pole vault Saturday and placed T-3rd out of 22 competitors with a mark of 4.60m.
Central will next compete in the Concordia Polar Dog Invite Friday, Jan. 19 in Seward, Neb.
