Eagles Move to No. 6 in Second NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Eagles Move to No. 6 in Second NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Soccer program landed at No. 6 in the second edition of the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll, which was announced by the national office this week.

Other Heart programs featured or mentioned in the Top 25 include; No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene, No. 23 Missouri Valley, and (RV) Benedictine College.

The Eagles are currently 5-0-1 through their first six games of conference play, which includes a 4-0-1 record at home. Central is scoring three and a half goals/match and has tallied four shutouts so far this season.

Senior forward Kirstine Lykke leads all scorers with nine goals, followed by Lacey Ann Murray with five and Andrea Jimenez with three.

Central opens Heart play with a road matchup against Grand View on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.

To view the poll methodology and the complete Top 25 poll, please see below.

Poll Methodology:

  • The poll is for publicity purposes only and has no weight or bearing in the selection process for national championship field consideration.
  • A panel of head coaches representing each conference and Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) voted on the poll.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter votes for the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place, 28 points for third-place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes".
