New Orleans, La. - After a stellar indoor season, Central Methodist junior Renee Finke was named the South Central Region Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA Thursday.
The award comes after Finke was recognized as the Heart of America Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet after a dominant showing at the conference championship last week.
The native of Montgomery City, Missouri won both the pentathlon and the high jump and earned a runner-up finish in the 60m hurdles.
In the pentathlon, Finke tallied both a school and conference record of 3591 points to win the event. She also cleared a height of 1.71 meters in the high jump, a new conference championship record.
Altogether, she finished the meet as the highest point scorer with 28 points.
Finke is currently ranked second nationally in the pentathlon with (3591) and third nationally in the high jump (1.73m).
The Eagles will turn their attention to the NAIA Indoor National Championships, set to take place Feb. 29 - March 2 in Brookings, S.D.
