Lawrence, Kan. - The Central Methodist Track and Field program opened the 2023-24 indoor season at the Bob Timmons Classic Saturday afternoon in Lawrence, Kansas.
Highlighting the meet were three national qualifiers in Renee Finke (High Jump), Karli Wolfe (Weight Throw) and Zaria Jones (60m Hurdles).
Finke broke the school record in the High Jump and hit the 'A' standard with a jump of 1.73 meters, finishing third. Wolfe hit the 'A' standard in the weight throw with a throw of 16.34 meters.
Jones, a newcomer to the team this year, competed in the 60m hurdles and hit the 'B' standard with a time of 8.89 seconds to place fifth.
Sophomore Baylee Beard placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.99 meters.
On the men's side, junior Leroy Williams finished fourth in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.55 seconds, while Ethan Smith placed sixth in 8.91 seconds.
Chris Adekoya earned a fourth place standing in the 60m dash in 6.88 seconds, while Colder Evans placed fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.93 meters.
The program will next compete in the Crimson and Gold Invitational Saturday, Dec. 9 in Pittsburg, Kan.
