Central Splits with Benedictine on Senior Day

Central Splits with Benedictine on Senior Day

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Softball team split its final doubleheader of the regular season against Benedictine College Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

In between games, the program recognized its 2023 senior class which included Katelyn Kiser, Kaylee Parker, Montana Stangel, Rachel Muniz, Caroline Walker, and Chloe Clarke.

In game one, Benedictine jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first frame on a two-run home run. A single from Kaysie Jolley in the bottom half of the second cut the lead in half.

Jolley would follow that up with a three-run home run to right field to put Central out in front 4-2 in the fourth. Kiser put the finishing touches on the inning and the game with a solo home run to center.

Elizabeth Palumbo, Stangel, and Jolley all finished the day with two hits, while Jolley drove in four of Central's five RBI.

Jordyn Ball had another solid outing inside the circle, tossing a complete game and giving up just two earned runs on five hits with two walks. She also struck out eight batters in her 15th win of the year.

Game two belonged to the Raven bats, as they plated 11 runs on 14 hits including four for extra bases. Central scored runs in each of the first three innings, but were unable to match Benedictine's offensive power.

Joely Crider and Kiser each tallied two hits, including two doubles for Kiser. Madison White also picked up a solo home run in the third.

Haile Farris, Haley Cotter, and Brooke Tolle all saw action inside the circle for the Eagles.

Central claimed their second-straight Heart Regular Season Conference Championship with the win in game one.

CMU will serve as the No. 1 overall seed in the Heart Conference Tournament beginning Thursday, May 4 in Baldwin City, Kan. They will play No. 8 Culver-Stockton College in the first game at 12:00 p.m.
