
Pineville, La. - The No. 13 Central Methodist softball team swept the final day of the Generals Showdown on Saturday in Pineville, La.
The Eagles began the day with a Top 25 victory over No. 24 Central Baptist College, 13-0, followed by a 7-1 win against Louisiana Christian in the finale.
Central used a 12-run second inning against the Mustangs to secure the shut out victory in five innings. The second inning was highlighted by a grand slam from senior Madison Love and a solo home run from Macey Harrington.
Overall, the Eagles tallied 13 hits including three hits for extra bases.
Senior ace Keighlan Cronin had a remarkable outing, as the St. Charles, Mo. native tossed a perfect game. Cronin faced the minimum amount of batters (15) and tallied 13 strikeouts in the win over the Mustangs.
In the tournament finale against the Wildcats, Central's offense scored runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings to cruise past Louisiana Christian, 7-1.
Micaela Harcrow and Love each tallied two hits including a two-RBI single from Love. Madison White recorded a solo home run in the second inning while Kelli Gorman tripled in the third to score Harcrow.
Freshman Mykala Johnico recorded her first career start in the circle for Central, tossing a complete game and giving up only one earned run on four hits with 10 strikeouts in her first win as an Eagle.
The Eagles are set to face Avila University and Cottey College Sunday, Feb. 20 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
