
Olathe, Kan. - The No. 6 Central Methodist softball program earned another doubleheader sweep, this time against MidAmerica Nazarene by scores of 5-0 and 6-4 Wednesday afternoon in Olathe, Kan.
CMU improves its overall record to 33-4 and 19-3 in conference play. MidAmerica falls to 14-12 and 12-8 in the Heart.
The Eagles scored runs in each of the first four innings and finished game one with 14 hits. Kelli Gorman led the offense batting two-for-four with two runs driven in. Hannah Criswell and Jordan Jenkins each picked up an RBI as well.
Keighlan Cronin tossed a complete game, giving up no runs on three hits along with 11 K's to pick up the win.
After scoring the first three runs of game two, Central found themselves even with the Pioneers after MNU scored three on a three run home run in the bottom of the third. However, CMU responded with a double from Jenkins and an RBI-triple from Kelena Oots in the following at bat to regain a 4-3 lead. Kelli Gorman then collected her 11th home run of the year in the top of the fifth, and Madison Love also homered in the top of the seventh.
Despite MNU trimming Central's lead to two, the Eagles held on for a 6-4 win to earn the doubleheader sweep.
Love pitched all seven innings, giving up four earned runs on five strikeouts. Love, Oots, Madison White, and Micaela Harcrow each picked up two hits, while Love drove in two runs.
The Eagles continue road action with a cross division matchup against Clarke University Saturday, April 17 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Dubuque, Iowa.
