Central completes series sweep of Park Tuesday afternoon

Fayette, Mo. - The No. 6 Central Methodist softball team completed the series sweep of Heart newcomer Park University Tuesday afternoon at Cox Softball Complex, winning by scores of 10-0 and 11-0.

With the sweep, Central improves its overall mark to an outstanding 31-4 and 17-3 in conference play. Park falls to 4-16 overall and 4-12 in the Heart.

The Eagles began the day with a 10-0 victory in five innings over the Pirates, scoring eight runs in the opening frame to cruise to a double-digit win.

Hannah Criswell batted a perfect three-for-three with an RBI double and two runs scored. Madison White finished the afternoon with a three-run home run and two walks to lead the offensive charge. Jordan Jenkins also picked up a two-RBI single and scored one run.

Junior pitcher Keighlan Cronin collected her 16th win of the season, pitching all five innings and giving up only one hit and three walks along with two strikeouts.

Game two featured more of Central's powerful offense, as the Eagles scored five runs in both the first and third innings. CMU added its final run of the day in the fourth to earn the 11-0 shut-out win in five innings.

The trio of Morgan Willis, Katelyn Kiser, and Katelyn Kolb each drove in two runs, while Kelli Gorman picked up an RBI double.

Madison Love tossed all five innings, allowing no runs on three hits with three strikeouts en route to her 14th win of 2021.

The Eagles will travel back to Olathe, Kan. to make up last week's doubleheader against MNU on Wednesday, April 14 at 4:00 p.m.
