
Oskaloosa, Iowa - The No. 7 Central Methodist softball team bounced back with a pair of wins against William Penn by scores of 10-0 and 6-2 Saturday afternoon in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
With the wins, Central improves to 28-3 and 14-2 in conference action, while WPU falls to 13-13 and 7-7 in Heart play.
CMU opened the first inning with seven runs followed by two in the second and one in the third, cruising to a 10-0 game one victory in five innings.
Katelyn Kiser batted one-for-three with three RBI including a two RBI double. Madison White batted a perfect three-for-three with an RBI and two runs scored, while Kelena Oots finished game one batting .500 including a two RBI triple.
Keighlan Cronin pitched all five innings for Central, tossing another shutout and giving up only two hits and one walk. She also struck out seven batters.
The Eagles completed the doubleheader sweep with a 6-2 win in game two. A double from Micaela Harcrow in the first brought home two runners followed by an error from the William Penn defense which scored Madison White.
Despite the Statesmen responding with two runs in the next half inning, CMU stretched its lead out to four with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to earn their second straight win.
Kelli Gorman led the offense batting two-of-three with a solo home run in the fifth inning. White also picked up a hit and two RBI. Junior pitcher Madison Love gave up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts through seven complete innings of work, good enough to earn her 13th win of the year.
Central will next travel to MNU to face the Pioneers on Wednesday, April 7 in Olathe, Kan. First pitch of game one is set for 4:00 p.m.
