Eagles earn doubleheader sweep of Louisiana College; Love tosses no-hitter

Alexandria, La. - The Central Methodist softball team concluded its two day tour of Louisiana with two more against Louisiana College by scores of 11-4 and 13-0 Tuesday afternoon in Alexandria, La.

With the pair of wins, Central improves to 4-0, while Louisiana College drops to 3-6.

Game one was a high scoring affair for both teams, as Central started the first inning with six runs, before the Wildcats responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

The Eagles tacked on three runs in the top of the third, courtesy of an RBI single from Kelena Oots and a two-RBI single from Morgan Willis, pushing the lead to 9-4. The final two runs came in the sixth inning, as Katelyn Kiser sent a two-run home run over the left field fence, completing the 11-4 victory.

Keighlan Cronin earned her second win of the weekend, tossing 6.1 innings and giving up only three hits, two walks. She also struck out 12 batters, tied for the second highest total in her three year career so far. Oots, Willis, Kiser, and Micaela Harcrow all picked up two hits, while Kiser finished the day with a game-high four RBI to lead the offense from the batters box.

The offensive output continued in game two, as Central peppered the Wildcat pitching staff with runs three runs in the second, two in the third, and eight in the fourth, taking the finale by a score of 13-0 in five innings.

Madison Love had an excellent day inside the circle, throwing a no-hitter and was just one walk shy of pitching a perfect game. The New Bloomfield, Mo. native finished the day with seven strikeouts, setting a new career high.

Kelli Gorman and Adailia Sewell led the offense with three hits apiece, followed by Oots and Madison White, who each collected two. Overall the bats for CMU collected 13 runs on 15 hits and 12 RBI. They also drew five walks.

Central continues non-conference action with a trip down to Talequah, Okla. to compete in the NSU-Cherokee National Festival Feb. 26-27.
