Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Central Methodist Men's and Women's Cross Country programs concluded their season at the Heart of America Conference Championships Saturday morning at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The championship featured more than 220 athletes represented by 13 different Heart institutions.
The CMU men finished sixth out of 13 teams, while the women placed ninth of 12 teams.
On the men's side in the 8K, the top four CMU runners finished within 28 seconds of eachother. Meshack Kiptanui was the first Eagle to cross the finish line in a time of 26:15.5 to place 19th.
Grant Engel was less than five seconds behind, as he finished 21st in 26:20.2. Elvis Kipkosgei landed in the top 30 with a final time of 26:38.9 to place 27th.
Doriye Jackson was just outside the top 30 with a 31st place finish at 26:43.9.
Exavier Coburn (50th, 27:36.2), Zy'Shonne Cowans (58th, 28:14.1), and Jack Schiffhauer (72nd, 28:48.0) also ran for the Eagles, with Coburn rounding out the top five runners for CMU.
Altogether the men finished with 144 total points to land in the top half of the team standings.
For the CMU women, Dayana Montenegro led the way with a 29th place finish in the 6K in 24:37.9.
Yanira Paninka (44th, 25:20.8), Sadie Burchett (59th, 26:41.7), Joshlyn Troupe (62nd, 27:00.6), Isabella Ross (77th, 29:01.4), and Madison Horn (84th, 30:10.0), also ran for the Eagles.
