Men Place Second, Three Eagles Land in Top 10 of St. Louis Fall Classic

St. Louis, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Cross Country team placed second at the St. Louis Fall Classic Saturday morning. 

The meet, which was hosted by the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, featured 74 runners from nine different schools. 

Central had a strong showing, as three Eagles landed in the Top 10 of the meet. 

Meshack Kiptanui posted a fifth place finish in the 8K, running the course in a time of 26:56.3. Elvis Kipkosgei was less than 15 seconds behind, as the junior transfer ran a final time of 27:11.3 to place seventh. 

Grant Engel cracked the Top 10 in a time of 27:18.1 to place ninth. Exavier Coburn ran the race in 28:18.3 to finish 15th. Jack Schiffhauer (26th, 29:23.5), Zy'Shonne Cowans (29th, 29:49.3), Elliott Reed (42nd, 30:54.9), and Isaiah Barg (47th, 31:40.3) also ran for the Eagles. 

CMU finished second with 57 total points, just four points back from first-place winner Blue Mountain, who tallied 53 points to win the meet. 

Central will turn its attention to postseason competition, as the Eagles will run in the Heart Championships Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11:30 a.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
