Lawrence, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's and Women's Cross Country programs participated at the Haskell Invite Saturday morning in Lawrence, Kan.
The CMU men finished fifth in the 8K while the women placed eighth in the 6K.
For the men, Meshack Kiptanui was the highest finisher the Eagles, cracking the top 10 with an eighth place finish in a time of 26:44.65. Grant Engel just landed outside the top 10 at No. 13 with a time of 27:07.83.
Elvis Kipkosgei was the third Eagle to cross the finish line in 27:25.90 to finish 17th. Doriye Jackson was right behind Kipkosgei with a time of 27:37.57 to place 22nd.
Exavier Coburn (33rd, 28:12.53) rounded out the Eagles' top five runners.
Heart foe Baker University won the team title with 65 total points, followed closely by Rockhurst who tallied 68 points.
On the women's side, freshman Sadie Burchett ran the 6K in a time of 26:01.58 to place 35th out of the field of 78. Isabella Ross finished with a time of 27:19.20, followed by Deziree Hood in 27:58.43.
Madison Horn (29:25.74) and Emily Gibson (31:15.55) rounded out Central's five runners.
College of the Ozarks took home first place as a team with 56 points, while Rockhurst tallied 58 points to place second.
Central Methodist will next turn its attention to the St. Louis Fall Cross Country Classic Saturday, Oct. 21 in St. Louis, Mo.
