Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Football program welcomed No. 2 nationally ranked Grand View University to Davis Field for a Thursday night matchup in Fayette.
Central would fall to the Vikings by a final score of 42-7.
CMU held the Vikings' high-powered offense to only seven first-quarter quarter points before Grand View rattled off 28 points in the second quarter to take a 35-0 lead at the halftime break.
GVU added one final touchdown in the third before Central posted its lone touchdown drive of the game in the fourth quarter. After stopping Grand View inside the Eagles' 10-yard line, Central drove 93 yards in 11 plays and ran off roughly 6:00 of the game clock.
Quarterback Alvaro Ortega-Morales found Carl Robinson over the middle for a 38-yard pass completion to put Central at the Vikings' one-yard line. After a stalled running play that pushed CMU back to the three, Ortega-Morales found Moses Ross, who scampered into the end zone for the score.
Ortega-Morales finished the day completing 15-of-28 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown. Robinson led the receiving core, with three catches for 69 yards, followed by Tahj Wright, who snagged three balls for 33 yards.
Y'Marius Joshlin tallied six tackles on the evening, while Joseph Daniels finished with five. Ben Wells also forced a fumble on a kickoff midway through the fourth quarter.
Central heads out on the road to face another ranked opponent in No. 20 Baker University on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
