
Lamoni, Iowa - The Central Methodist Football program dropped its road contest against Graceland University by a score of 62-12 Saturday afternoon in Lamoni, Iowa.
The Eagles drop to 0-3 overall, while GU improves to 2-1.
Central jumped out in front on the scoreboard following Graceland's opening drive of the game. After a three-and-out, the Yellowjackets' longsnapper sailed the snap over the punter's head through the back of the endzone for a safety, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
However, GU would respond with 28 first quarter points followed by 20 points in the second.
CMU's Oscar Simon connected on a 26 yard field goal midway through the second quarter. Central would trail Graceland, 48-5, at the halftime break.
Before the conclusion of the third quarter, Central's offense found the endzone courtesy of a 74 yard touchdown pass from Alvaro Ortega-Morales to Tristan Boyce.
Graceland put the finishing touches on the game with a touchdown at the 9:06 mark of the fourth quarter.
Ortega-Morales finished the game competing 12 of 22 passes for 253 total yards and a touchdown pass. Boyce had a career day for the Eagles, catching five passes for 163 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Brenden Dye tallied 11 total tackles while Dylan Holt finished with seven.
Central returns home to host Clarke University as part of Family Weekend Saturday, Sept. 21 at Davis Field. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
