Columbia, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Cross Country team began the 2023 season at the Larry Young Invitational in Columbia, Missouri Friday night.
The women's 5K race featured 91 runners from 16 different schools.
Yanira Paninka led the way for the Eagles, running the 5K in a time of 21:05.23 to finish just outside the Top 20. Dayana Montenegro followed with a time of 22:25.76 to place 38th.
Sadie Burchett (49th, 23:37.35), Joshlyn Troupe (54th, 24:02.20) and Kailey Johnson (61st, 24:49.05) rounded out Central's top five runners.
Deziree Hood, Isabella Ross, Madison Horn, and Emily Gibson also ran for the Eagles.
Central will next compete in the Haskell Invite Saturday, Oct. 7 in Lawrence, Kan.
