
Olathe, Kan. - The No. 18 Central Methodist Volleyball program avenged an earlier season loss to MidAmerica Nazarene University Tuesday night in Olathe, Kan.
Central defeated the Pioneers in straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-16. The Eagles improve their overall record to 16-4 and 4-1 in the Heart of America, while MNU falls to 10-9 and 4-3 in conference action.
Junior Joana Milho led the offensive attack with 10 kills along with 15 digs to earn a double double. Additionally, the native of Lisboa, Portugal registered a season-high five blocks in the sweep.
Super senior Annabelle Maassen followed with nine kills for a .320 hitting percentage to go along with a team-high 17 digs. She also finished with an assist, a service ace, and block.
Martina Gonzato tallied six kills while Mia Trankler added five kills and four blocks. Giulia Gainelli dished out a team-high 17 assists and added eight digs to her stat line.
Senior Gabi Owczarek joined Maassen in the double double club with 16 assists and 13 digs in the win. Campos concluded the evening with 15 digs and a pair of assists.
Freshman Kyndra Collier matched Trankler with four blocks while tallying a pair of kills.
Central returns home for a huge showdown against undefeated Benedictine College Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
The matchup features the top two teams in the Heart of America, with the winner claiming possession of the top spot in the regular-season conference standings.
